The opening reception for Invisible Wounds of War exhibit will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017, from 6 until 9 p.m. at ACES Gallery at The Arts Council of Wilmington, 221 N. Front St., Suite 101. At 7 p.m., several of the veterans will read their writing from the project. The exhibit will remain on display until the end of November.

The Invisible Wounds of War exhibit highlights collaborative self-portrait photographs and writing by veterans participating in the project during 2017. The writing and photographs offer an intimate view into the invisible wounds that veterans carry when they return home from war. The photographs are created collaboratively by the veterans and Jen Johnson, project director.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information about the project, please visit www.invisiblewoundsnc.com.

Invisible Wounds of War project is offered in collaboration with The Arts Council of Wilmington and is made possible, in part, by funding from The North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide non-profit affiliate of The National Endowment for the Humanities, and by private donations.
