Lumber River United Way, including Bladen, Hoke, and Robeson Counties, will be providing a new VITA (Volunteer Tax Assistance) Program in the new year to qualified residents. VITA prepares and e-files income tax returns for people with low/moderate incomes, disabilities, are elders, or in the military. VITA will be on-site at Bladen County Public Library, 111 N Cypress St. Elizabethtown on the following dates:
- Feb 16th – 2 pm – 6pm

March 16th – 2pm – 6pm

Final clinic will be held : April 12th – 2pm – 6pm
Participants will need to bring in their documents for uploading so that a volunteer can prepare their return. Patrons will then return to have their return reviewed prior to e-filing.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance grant program is an Internal Revenue Service initiative in the United States that supports free tax preparation service for the underserved through various partner organizations.
