ROWLAND – East Bladen defeated South Robeson 2-0 Thursday in Three Rivers Conference jayvee volleyball action by game scores of 25-19 and 25-21.

The teams battled on even terms in the first game until freshman Katie Evans reeled off 7 straight service points to give East Bladen a 12-6 lead. Five more service points from Lila McDuffie stretched the Lady Eagle lead to 20-8, and they closed out the game on a trio of side-outs.

Six straight service points from Cheylee Mathis propelled the Lady Eagles to a 12-8 lead in the second game. Two service points each from McDuffie and freshman Kayleigh Raynor kept East Bladen within 20-18, before freshman Alyssa Futrell served out the match with 4 straight service points.

Evans, Mathis and McDuffie led the East Bladen servers with 7 service points each. Futrell finished with 5 service points, while Raynor followed with 3 service points. Sophmore Abbie Cross contributed 2 service points.
