ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen handed South Columbus the Lady Stallions first loss of the season Monday night by a 3-1 margin in non-conference volleyball action.

The Lady Eagles won the 1st two sets by 25-23 and 25-22 scores then after dropping the 3rd set 14-25, regrouped and closed out the match with a 26-24 victory in the 4th set.

Sophomore Miriam DeVane blasted in 11 kills and 3 blocks to lead the winners’ attack. Senior Acee Campbell pounded in 10 kills, a block, 2 aces and had 2 assists. Senior AnnaGrey Heustess slammed in 7 kills, 2 aces and was credited with 4 assists and a dig.

Senior Karli Priest racked up 25 assists to spark the Lady Eagle offense and drilled in 2 aces. Senior Trinity Cromartie hammered in 7 kills and had 1 dig. Senior Maegan Burney knocked in 4 aces and a kill, delivered 2 assists and came up with 5 digs.

Senior Emma Turbeville dished out 2 assists and totaled 2 digs for East. Senior Cydney Campbell fired in an ace, and junior Karly Ross had a dig.

Coach Jordan Raynor’s Lady Eagles raised their record to 2-3 and will open Southeastern Athletic Conference play Thursday at Midway.
