ST. PAULS – Junior Shardajah Brown keyed a 10-1 closing run that rallied East Bladen to a victory in the third set, and the Lady Eagles went on to claim a 3-1 non-conference volleyball victory over St. Pauls by set scores of 18-25, 25-22, 27-25 and 25-21.

With the teams tied 1-1 in sets, the Lady Eagles trailed 24-17 in set 3 when Brown’s service run pulled East Bladen even at 24-24 and East Bladen won 3 of the next 4 points to take the set and a 2-1 lead.

Brown finished with 9 service points, 5 aces and a kill for East Bladen. Sophmore setter Ashley Hardin piled up 30 assists to spark the Lady Eagle attack. Hardin also knocked in 6 kills, 3 aces and 9 service points.

Senior Lexie Mendell hammered in 8 kills, 3 aces and 10 service points for the winners. Senior Anna Grace Long racked up 7 service points, 3 kills and an ace. Junior Hannah Devane tallied 5 service points, 2 aces and 2 kills.

Senior Bethany Lesane slammed in 4 kills, an ace and 3 service points for East. Senior Alexa Hernandez added 2 service points, a kill and an ace.

Coach Jennifer Hair’s Lady Eagles are now 1-1 and will travel to Whiteville Monday at 4:30.

St. Pauls won the jayvee match 2-1.
