Volleyball: East Bladen 3, West Bladen 0

ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen’s Lady Eagles closed out their season Tuesday night with a 3-0 Three Rivers Conference volleyball victory over West Bladen by set scores of 27-25, 25-21 and 25-14.

“It was a big win for East Bladen tonight,” said Lady Eagle Coach Sara Ward. “It was a mad house in the gym.”

Freshman Acee Campbell reeled off 5 straight service points to pull East even at 11-11 in the first set then served out the set at 27-25. She racked up 13 service points, 5 aces, 7 kills, a block and a dig.

Junior Cheylee Mathis hammered in 14 kills, 3 aces, 4 service points and 2 blocks for the winners. Junior Kayleigh Raynor drilled in 10 service points, 5 aces, 3 kills, a block and had one dig. Senior Cybil Campbell knocked in 6 kills, 4 service points, 2 aces and had a dig.

Junior Katie Evans smacked in 9 service points, 3 kills, 2 blocks, an ace and had a dig for East. Senior Lorna Mendell pounded in 4 kills and 3 blocks. Senior Ruth Ward fired in 4 service points and 2 aces.

Senior Lila McDuffie contributed 2 service points, a kill and had 2 digs for the Lady Eagles. Senior Adrienne Howell had 2 digs. Sophmore Alexus Mitchell finished with a kill and a dig, and junior Sara Gargala added one kill.

Senior Mikayla Meadows led the Lady Knight attack with 10 kills, 2 aces, a service point and 4 digs. Junior Ashlyn Cox dished out 8 assists and tallied 4 service points, 2 aces and a dig. Junior Sidnee Walters slammed in 7 kills, 2 aces, 3 service points and had an assist.

Senior Jordan Benson sparked the West Bladen defense with 14 digs. Junior Amelia Brisson fired in 5 service points, 2 aces, a kill and a block. Junior Shelby Pharr belted in 3 service points, an ace and a kill.

Senior Lexi Corrothers pounded in 4 service points, 2 kills and a solo block for the Lady Knights. Senior Erica Storms knocked in 2 kills.

“This has been a great season,” said Lady Knight Coach Gaye Davis. “The girls worked hard this season. East Bladen played one heck of a game tonight. They have had a great season also.”

East Bladen improved to 8-8 in the Three Rivers and 8-12 overall with the win. West Bladen finished 9-7 in the Three Rivers and 11-7 overall.
