ELIZABETHTOWN – Sophomore Acee Campbell and senior Cheylee Mathis sparked East Bladen to a 3-1 victory over West Bladen Monday night in non-conference volleyball action by set scores of 25-10, 26-28, 25-20 and 25-21.

Acee Campbell hammered in 11 kills, 7 aces, 4 other service points and had 2 digs, while Mathis slammed in 6 kills, 5 blocks, an ace, 3 other service points and had 2 digs. Senior Sara Gargala filled up the stat sheet with 4 kills, 4 blocks, 4 service points including an ace and 2 digs.

Senior Kayleigh Raynor drilled in 4 aces, 3 other service points and had one dig for the winners. Senior Katie Evans fired in 4 service points, a block and had 2 digs. Sophomore AnnaGrey Heustess racked up 3 blocks, 2 service points including an ace and a kill.

Sophomore Karli Priest knocked in 3 aces, another service point and a dig for East. Junior Merritt Martin smacked in 2 kills, an ace, another service point and had a dig. Junior Alexus Mitchell tallied 3 service points.

Sophomore Cydney Campbell contributed a kill, an ace, another service point and a block for the Lady Eagles. Sophomore Maegan Burney smashed in a kill, a block and a service point, and sophomore Emma Turbeville finished with a service point and a dig.

Coach Jordan Raynor’s Lady Eagles improved to 2-1 on the season and will host Three Rivers Conference defending champion Whiteville Tuesday at 4:30 in their TRC opener.

It was the first loss of the season for Coach Gaye Davis’ Lady Knights, now 2-1, who will travel to Fairmont Tuesday at 4:30 for their conference opener.

Senior Sidnee Walters blasted in 12 kills, 3 aces, 4 other service points and had 5 digs to lead West Bladen. Sophmore Whitney McLean pounded in 7 kills, 4 aces, 6 other service points, 3 blocks and had 4 digs.

Senior Ashlyn Cox racked up 20 assists, 2 aces, 5 other service points and a kill for the Lady Knights. Senior Shelby Pharr knocked in 5 kills, 2 aces, 5 other service points and had a dig. Senior Amelia Brisson fired in 3 aces, 8 other service points and 3 kills.

Senior Emily Young swatted in an ace, another service point, a kill and had 4 digs for West. Junior Caroline Brisson and sophmore Catherine Dowless added 2 digs each, and sophmore Lydia Villagomez had one block.
