East Bladen High SchoolELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen swept West Columbus 3-0 Thursday night in Three Rivers Conference volleyball action by set scores of 25-13, 25-21, and 25-23.

Junior Cybil Campbell sparked the Lady Eagles to an early 5-1 lead with 4 straight service points. Junior Gracyn Martin reeled off 5 consecutive service points to grow the lead to 21-10. Senior Sarah Johnson closed out the set with an ace.

A trio of Martin service points edged East Bladen ahead 7-6 in the second set. Red Springs rode a 14-7 run to a 20-14 lead, but sophomore Kayleigh Raynor rallied the Lady Eagles with 7 straight service points for a 22-20 lead. Johnson served out the set with a pair of aces.

Four straight service points from senior Abbie Cross staked East Bladen to a 7-3 lead in the third set. A pair of service points from junior Lorna Mendell kept the Lady Eagles within 17-15, before 6 straight service points from Martin vaulted East Bladen ahead 22-19.

Martin led the Lady Eagles with 14 service points that included 7 aces. Johnson pounded in 8 kills, 5 aces, and 3 blocks. Campbell fired in 5 aces and 3 kills. Raynor hammered in 8 service points that included 6 aces and a kill.

Cross drilled in 3 aces and totaled 4 service points. Mendell knocked in a pair of service points, a kill and a block. Junior Lila McDuffie slammed in 2 kills, 2 service points and an ace.

Sophmore Katie Evans contributed a block, a dig and a service point. Junior Ruth Ward had one dig.

East Bladen will host South Robeson Monday in a 5:30 match.
