Bladen County VolleyballEast Columbus won three games by a total of six points and squeaked past East Bladen 3-1 Monday night by game scores of 25-23, 18-25, 25-23 and 26-24 in non-conference volleyball action at East Bladen.

Senior Claire Campbell lit up with the scoreboard with 20 service points, 3 aces, 5 kills and 5 assists. Campbell’s serving sparked a 15-3 closing run in Game 2 that rallied the Lady Eagles from a 15-13 deficit to victory in the second game that tied the match 1-1.

Senior Lacey Suggs slammed in 6 aces and 3 kills and totaled 12 service points. Senior Miller Heustess keyed the East Bladen offense with 25 assists and knocked down 5 kills, an ace and 5 more service points.

Junio Lexie Mendell hammered in 10 kills, 2 aces, a block and 6 service points for the Lady Eagles. Sophomore Hannah DeVane tallied 4 service points, 3 kills and an ace.

Alexa Hernanaez collected 3 service points and 2 kills for East Bladen. Junior Anna Grace Long smacked in 2 kills, and senior Abby Ward added one.

The Lady Eagles, now 1-2, will host St. Pauls Thursday.
