FAIRMONT- Fairmont defeated East Bladen 3-0 Thursday night in Three Rivers Conference volleyball action by set scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-19.

A pair of service points from junior Lorna Mendell kept East Bladen within 7-6 early in Set One, and another Mendell service point edged East ahead at 16-14 before an 11-4 Fairmont run claimed the set.

Two more Mendell service points gave the Lady Eagles a 6-4 lead in the second set. However a ten-point Fairmont service run produced a 15-8 lead and eventual 25-16 win in the set.

Junior Gracyn Martin reeled off four straight service points and vaulted East Bladen into an 11-8 lead in the third set. However a 17-8 Fairmont run closed out the match.

Junior Cybil Campbell and Mendell topped the Lady Eagle servers with 6 service points each. Martin finished with 5 service points, and sophomores Katie Evans and Kayleigh Raynor followed with 4 service points each. Senior Sarah Johnson added one service point.

Coach Sara Ward’s Lady Eagles will host St. Pauls Tuesday.
