ELIZABETHTOWN – Fairmont defeated East Bladen 3-0 Tuesday night in Three Rivers Conference volleyball action by set scores of 25-12, 25-12 and 25-23.

Fairmont grabbed an early 14-3 lead in the first set, before 2 service points from sophmore Kayleigh Raynor and 3 more from sophomore Katie Evans pulled East Bladen to within 17-12. The Lady Tornadoes closed out the set with 7 straight service points.

The visitors jumped in front 14-6 in the second set. Junior Ruth Ward rallied the Lady Eagles to within 15-10 with a trio of service points, but a 10-2 Fairmont run ended the set.

Raynor drilled in 4 straight service points to put East Bladen up 11-9 in Set 3. Service points by senior Sarah Johnson and Evans tied the set a final time 22-22, before Fairmont served out the match.

Junior Lorna Mendell slammed in 6 kills, a block and 2 service points. Johnson pounded in 5 kills, 2 aces. a block and had a dig. Raynor fired in a team-high 6 service points, 2 aces, a kill and had 2 digs.

Ward knocked in 3 service points, 2 aces, 2 kills and had a team-high 8 digs. Evans finished with 4 service points and one dig. Junior Cybil Campbell slammed in 3 kills, 3 service points, one ace and had a dig.

Junior Gracyn Martin smacked in 3 kills and one service point. Junior Lila McDuffie contributed one kill.

East Bladen will travel to St. Pauls Thursday for a 4:30 match.
