DUBLIN – Pender defeated West Bladen 3-0 Thursday night in Four County Conference volleyball action by set scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 28-26.
On ‘Cure ALL Knight’, the Lady Knights played in honor of Kassidy Anderson’s mom who had surgery Wednesday for cancer and Kathryn Schultz, a senior player that has ulcerated colitis that requires chemo once a month.
“The team played with heart,” said West Bladen Coach Gaye Davis. “I told them before the game the final score was not what tonight was about.”
Schultz hammered in 5 kills, an ace and a service point, while senior teammate Morgan Schumacher pounded in 6 kills, an ace and 3 service points.
Sophmore Raegan Davis racked up 3 kills, 2 aces, a service point and a block for West. Senior Logan Autry contributed 3 kills and 2 service points, and Anderson slammed in 3 kills and an ace.
Junior Patience Parker knocked in 2 kills, senior Jenna Dove tallied 2 service points, and senior Kaylee Stevens added one kill for West Bladen.
West Bladen will travel to Clinton Tuesday for a 4:30 game.
