RED SPRINGS – Red Springs closed the fifth game with an 8-2 spurt that carried the Lady Red Devils to a 3-2 Three Rivers Conference volleyball victory over West Bladen Thursday night by game scores of 25-19, 17-25, 25-19, 21-25 and 15-9.

Junior Raegan Davis banged in a kill, 2 service points and an ace to stake the Lady Knights to an 8-6 lead in the first game. Service points by seniors Patience Parker and Elizabeth Allbright plus a winning return from Parker knotted the score 13-13.

A kill by senior Alise Pait kept West within 14-15, before a 6-1 Red Springs run upped the count to 21-15. Raegan Davis ripped in a pair of kills, and Parker tipped in a winner then scored on a block to pull the Lady Knights within 22-18. Red Springs then ended the game with a 3-1 spurt.

Parker reeled off 7 consecutive service points in the second set to propel the Lady Knights to a 12-6 lead. Senior Mikayla Winebarger belted a service winner and a kill to keep West up 15-9.

Allbright cracked a return winner and a kill to help sophmore Lexie Corrothers deliver 3 service points for a 20-12 West lead. Raegan Davis swatted in a return winner then pushed across a winner. Winebarger spiked in a kill as Parker ended the set with a pair of service points.

Red Springs forged a 13-5 lead in the third game before a pair of Raegan Davis service points, a Winebarger kill and an Allbright return whittled the margin to 14-10 on a Parker service point.

Junior Callie Lewis and Raegan Davis popped in kills as Winebarger won 3 service points that sliced the Lady Red Devil lead to 15-14. Red Springs padded the lead to 20-15, but Lewis tallied a kill and a service point.

A diving dig by Winebarger was swatted across by Allbright to score a service point for Lewis that sliced the margin to 20-18, but a 5-1 RS run ended the set.

Winebarger whistled in an ace, and tallied another service point on a Pait kill to keep West within 11-10 in Game 4. Corrothers banged in a pair of kills, and Pait smoked in an ace to keep the margin at 15-13, before Raegan Davis rallied the Lady Knights to within 17-16 with a kill and 2 service points.

Parker captured the serve with a spike then smacked in an ace and another service point to tie the set 19-19. A Winebarger kill and an ace and another service point from junior Caroline Davis vaulted West in front 22-20.

Winebarger served out the set with a pair of service points and deadlocked the match 2-2.

A Raegan Davis kill led to a pair of Winebarger service points and a quick 2-0 lead in the final game. Raegan Davis tipped in a winner, and Corrothers scored on a return to help Pait boost the Lady Knight lead to 5-1 with a pair of service points.

Another Raegan Davis kill interrupted a 5-0 Red Springs flurry. The score was tied a final time at 7-7 before the home team’s final run.

Raegan Davis racked up 12 kills, 5 aces, 5 service points and 3 blocks. Parker delivered 10 service points, 5 kills and 3 aces. Winebarger filled up the stat sheet with 5 service points, 5 aces, 3 kills, a block and a dig.

Allbright knocked in 8 kills, a block and a service point. Caroline Davis totaled 3 digs, 2 service points, an ace and a kill. Pait finished with 3 kills, 3 service points and an ace.

Lewis collected 2 service points, an ace, a block and 2 kills. Corrothers contributed 3 service points and 4 kills. Senior Madison Collins nailed a pair of aces.

The Lady Knights host East Columbus Tuesday.
