ELIZABETHTOWN – South Robeson edged East Bladen 3-2 Monday night in Three Rivers Conference volleyball action.

The Lady Mustangs won by set scores of 19-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-18 and 15-6.

Sophmore Kayleigh Raynor fired in 4 straight service points to vault East Bladen into an 11-8 lead in the first set. A trio of service points from junior Lila McDuffie kept East Bladen up 22-17, and sophomore Katie Evans served out the set.

Evans opened the second set with 5 straight service points, but South Robeson answered with a 13-3 run to take a 13-8 lead. Raynor rallied the Lady Eagles with 5 consecutive service points for a 15-14 lead, but an 11-2 South run took the set.

A 7-point Raynor service run propelled the Lady Eagles into a 12-6 lead in Set 3. Evans padded the lead to 17-8 with a trio of service points, and three more service points from Raynor kept East Bladen ahead 24-20. The Eagles won the set with a side-out.

South Robeson jumped in front 11-2 in the fourth set. Four service points from Raynor closed the gap to 18-11, but the Lady Mustangs held on to even the match 2-2.

A pair of service points from junior Lorna Mendell pulled East Bladen to within 7-6 in the final set, but a string of 7 straight service points by South Robeson ended the match.

Raynor led the Lady Eagles with 23 service points that included 8 aces and slammed in 4 kills. Evans knocked in 2 aces and totaled10 service points. Senior Sarah Johnson hammered in 8 kills, 2 blocks and a service point.

Mendell pounded in 5 kills, 3 blocks and 6 service points and had a dig. Junior Cybil Campbell smacked in 7 service points, 3 kills and 2 aces. McDuffie finished with 3 service points and 2 aces.

Junior Ruth Ward keyed the Lady Eagle defense with 8 digs and added 2 service points and an ace. Junior Gracyn Martin tallied 2 service points and had one dig.
