BLADENBORO – West Bladen pulled away to win the 5th and deciding set 15-5 and claim a 3-2 Three Rivers Conference volleyball victory over Red Springs Tuesday night. The Lady Knights took the first 2 sets 25-19 and 25-20, before Red Springs rallied to take the next 2 sets 25-18 and 26-24.

 

Senior Shelby Pharr hammered in 20 kills, 6 service points including an ace and had 2 digs for the winners. Sophomore Whitney McLean stuffed the stat sheet with 11 kills, 14 service points that included an ace, a block, an assist and 2 digs.

 

Senior Ashlyn Cox slammed in 15 service points that included 6 aces, 4 kills and was credited with 6 digs and 20 assists for West. Senior Amelia Brisson smacked in 14 service points that included 6 aces, 4 kills and had 8 digs. Sophomore Emily Young fired in 9 service points and had 6 digs.

 

Sophomore Lydia Villagomez knocked in 5 service points that included an ace, 3kills and 2 blocks for the Lady Knights. Senior Alyssa Suggs contributed 9 digs. Junior Catherine Dowless collected 2 digs, and junior Caroline Brisson had one dig.

 

Coach Gaye Davis’ Lady Knights evened their TRC record at 1-1 and are 3-2 overall. West Bladen will travel to East Columbus Thursday at 4:30.
