BLADENBORO – Seniors Ashlyn Cox and Sidnee Walters led West Bladen to a 3-1 victory over South Columbus Tuesday night that knocked the Lady Stallions out of the race for first place in the Three Rivers Conference.

 

Walters blasted in 26 kills, 4 blocks, 2 aces, 5 other service points and had 4 digs. “Sidnee brought her ‘A’ game tonight,” said Lady Knight Coach Gaye Davis. “She led the team in kills and blocks. She knew what needed to be done, and she did it.”

 

Cox was credited with 27 assists, 8 service points that included 3 aces, 3 kills and a dig as the Lady Knights won by set scores of 25-16, 18-25, 25-21 and 25-22.

 

Sophomore Emily Young fired in 15 service points, 2 kills, 3 blocks and had 2 digs and an assist for the winners. Senior Amelia Brisson knocked in 6 kills, 2 aces, 6 other service points and had 5 digs. Senior Shelby Pharr drilled in 9 service points that included 3 aces and 4 kills.

 

Sophomore Whitney Mclean slammed in 6 kills, 5 service points and a block for West. Senior Alyssa Suggs contributed 3 digs and 2 service points, junior Caroline Brisson collected 6 digs, and sophomore Catherine Dowless had one dig.

 

West Bladen improved to 4-3 in TRC play and 6-4 overall and will close out their season Thursday at home against East Bladen.
