ELIZABETHTOWN – Whiteville defeated East Bladen 3-0 Thursday night in Three Rivers Conference volleyball action by set scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-9.

Junior Cybil Campbell knocked in a pair of service points to give East Bladen an early 3-1 lead. Sophmore Cheylee Mathis tallied a pair of service points in the first set for the Lady Eagles.

Mathis reeled off four straight service points, and junior Sarah Johnson scored two more service points to trim the Whiteville lead to 21-13 in the second set.

Mathis led the Lady Eagles with 7 service points. Campbell finished with 3 service points. Johnson tallied 2 service points in the match, and junior Adrienne Howell and sophmore Katie Evans added one service point each.

Coach Sara Ward’s Lady Eagles are now 1-1 on the season. East Bladen will travel to Clinton Monday for a 6 p.m. match. The East jayvees will not play on Monday.
