WHITEVILLE- Whiteville defeated West Bladen 3-1 Tuesday night in non-conference volleyball action by set scores of 25-16, 25-11, 23-25 and 25-17.

Senior Kathryn Schultz knocked in 5 kills and had a block assist for the Lady Knights. Senior Logan Autry fired in 4 aces, 2 kills and 4 service points.

Senior Morgan Schumacher slammed in 5 kill, 2 aces, 2 blocks and had 2 block assists for West Bladen. Junior Patience Parker hammered in 5 kills, and senior Jenna Dove drilled in 4 aces, 2 kills and a service point.

Sophmore Raegan Davis pounded in 3 kills and a block for the Lady Knights, and senior Laikyn Pait contributed 2 blocks, a kill and 2 block assists.

It was the first loss of the season for Coach Gaye Davis’ Lady Knights who are now 3-1.

The Lady Knight jayvees lost 2-1 by set scores of 25-19, 25-27 and 15-11, and are now 2-2 on the season.

Junior Elizabeth Allbright belted in 9 kills, 2 aces and 2 service points for West. Teammate Callie Lewis filled the stat sheet with 6 kills, 4 aces and a block.

Mikayla Winebarger fired in 5 aces and had one assist for the Lady Knights. Freshman Jordan Benson delivered 3 service points, 2 aces and 2 assists.

Teammate Alise Pait contributed 2 aces, a service point, a kill and an assist. Freshman Lexie Corrothers dished out an assist, and Brinkley Collier smashed in a kill.

“Both teams (Varsity and JV) fought hard to come from behind,” said Coach Davis. “The girls are improving and are working as a team.”

West Bladen will travel to West Columbus Thursday for a 4:30 match.
