Wanda Everett was honored by the Bladen County Board of Education on Monday night for her retirement. Her final day at Central Office will be Friday, Nov. 13.
“She has served Bladen County in a number of capacities,” said Superintendent Robert Taylor.
Taylor said that when one becomes a superintendent it is important to have an administrative assistant who knows the job well. He added he has been honored to have the benefit of her knowledge and wisdom.
“You mean so much to us,” said Taylor. He said he and his family consider Everett a friend. Each board member also expressed their thanks to Everett for her efforts through the years. Board of Education Chairwoman Ophelia Munn-Goins called Everett a true professional. “I never dreamed when I started, I would end up in the superintendent’s office,” said Everett. She thanked the board for their support through the years. Everett, who was joined by her family, was presented a plaque honoring her service to the county.
