NC DOTRaleigh – Flood waters from Hurricane Matthew have washed out a section of N.C. 87 south of Fayetteville, near the Bladen-Cumberland County line.

Department of Transportation crews are repairing the inside lane to allow for one northbound lane of traffic to be open while additional repairs to the outside lane and shoulder are underway.

Until the inside lane can be opened, there will be a short-term (approximately three-day) detour for northbound traffic, sending drivers on County Line Road west to Chicken Foot Road, then north to I-95, to get back to N.C. 87 North.

Once the inside lane is open to traffic and the detour ended, work will then begin to repair the outside lane and shoulder washout. It is anticipated to take about one week to complete.
