Bladen Community College wrapped up the week before spring break by hosting a special presentation from WECT Channel 6 Chief Meteorologist, Gannon Medwick.

Students from local public schools, the Bladen Early College High School, BCC, BCC faculty and staff gathered in the college auditorium to listen to Medwick’s interesting explanation of hurricanes and their impacts. The presentation was entitled “Rules for Hurricane Season.”  Also, he described his educational background and journey to become a meteorologist.

Medwick encouraged students who would like to pursue that type of career to gain skills in math and science. He engaged the audience in a lengthy question and answering portion of the program that revealed his deep knowledge of weather and the region. Upon closing, Medwick challenged all attendees to discuss one thing that they learned from his presentation at home tonight with their families.   The program was sponsored by BCC’s Department of Math & Science, Department of Distance Learning and the BCC’s History Club.
