Roxie_Wells_Bladen_hospitalFAYETTEVILLE – Cape Fear Valley Health announced that Dr. Roxie Wells has been named president of Bladen Healthcare. Dr. Wells also will continue to serve as president of Hoke Healthcare.

Previously, Wells served as associate chief medical officer with responsibilities for leading Cape Fear Valley Medical Group. She continued with those duties when she was named president of Hoke Healthcare in December 2014.

Dan Weatherly, Cape Fear Valley’s chief operating officer, will assume responsibility for Cape Fear Valley Medical Group. Cape Fear Valley Medical Group is a multi-specialty group of more than 200 board-certified physicians. The group has offices in Cumberland, Hoke, Bladen, Harnett and Robeson counties.

Under Wells’ leadership, Hoke Hospital opened in March 2015. Patient volumes at Hoke Hospital’s emergency department soon surpassed expectations. Its medical/surgical and surgery departments also have experienced steady growth.

A graduate of Fayetteville State University and East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, Wells joined the health system in 2010 as a family practice physician at Stedman Medical Care. She completed her family practice residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington and is board certified in family practice.

Wells is a member of the American College of Physician Executives.
