ROWLAND – Junior Kyla Reed batted 4-4 and drove in six runs with a home run, 2 triples and a double to lead West Bladen to a 13-7 Three Rivers Conference victory over South Robeson Tuesday night.

Reed scored 5 runs and racked up 12 total bases. She was hit by a pitch and stole second in the first inning. Freshman Hannah Pait pulled a single to left-centerfield, and junior Alara Cashwell scorched a single to centerfield that scored Reed.

The Lady Knights tacked on two runs in the third inning. Senior Conner Brisson crushed a home run to centerfield, and Reed walloped a triple to leftfield and scored on Hannah Pait’s fielder’s choice for a 3-0 West lead.

The Lady Mustangs rallied in the bottom of the third. A bunt single and a hit batsman preceded sophmore Makoa Riveria’s 3-run homer that knotted the score 3-3.

Junior Kasee Singletary walked in the West Bladen fourth, stole two bases and scored on Brisson’s fielder’s choice. Reed blasted a home run to left field that padded the Lady Knight lead to 5-3.

Junior Kerosone Riveria slugged a home run in the South Robeson fifth, and two hits, two errors and a walk produced two more runs in the inning to vault the Lady Mustangs ahead 6-5.

Singletary beat out a bunt single to start the Lady Knight sixth. Brisson slammed a double to left-centerfield, and Reed drilled a double to left-centerfield that scored Singletary and Brisson. Reed later scored on Cashwell’s sacrifice fly to put West Bladen in front 8-6.

Freshman Lauren Pait walked, and freshman Briley Stanley and Singletary both beat out bunt singles to load the bases. Brisson reached base on an error that scored Lauren Pait. Reed clobbered a triple into the left field corner that scored Stanley, Singletary and Brisson. Cashwell yanked a double down the left field line that plated Reed for a 13-6 lead.

Singletary finished 2-3 at the plate with 3 runs scored. Cashwell batted 2-4 with a double and 3 runs batted in. Brisson turned in a 2-5 game at the plate with a home run, 3 rbi’s and 3 runs scored. Hannah Pait batted 2-5 with an rbi.

Sophmore Alyssa Suggs finished 2-5 at the plate with a double. Sophmore Shelby Pharr and Stanley added one hit each, and Stanley scored a run.

Pharr pitched a 9-hitter and allowed 7 runs – 5 earned – walked one and struck out nine to pick up the win.

Makoa Riveria batted 3-3 with a homer, a double, 3 rbi’s and 3 runs scored to lead South Robeson. Tehya Bullard batted 2-3, and pitcher Effie Oxendine finished 2-4 at the plate with 2 rbi’s. Kerosone Riveria slugged the home run and scored twice.

Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights improved to 8-4 in TRC play and 10-4 overall. West Bladen will host Clinton Wednesday night in a non-conference game.
