RED SPRINGS – West Bladen exploded for 12 first-inning runs en route to an 18-11 Three Rivers Conference jayvee softball victory over Red Springs Wednesday.

Sophomore Madison Walters and freshman Hayley Guyton drew walks to start the West Bladen first, and sophomore Armani Cowan slammed a double that scored Walters. Guyton darted home on a wild pitch, and sophomore Taylor West belted a single to centerfield that scored Cowan.

Kaylee Page walked, and Kayla Norris slapped a single to rightfield that scored West. Ryleigh Bailey ripped a double to left-centerfield that plated Norris. Bailey scored as Kylie Duffle reached base on an error. Olivia Allen walked, and Walters smacked a single to left.

Guyton drove in Allen with a single to center, and Cowan’s fielder’s choice plated Walters. West hammered a triple that scored Guyton and Cowan. West scooted home on a wild pitch, Page laced a single to right and Norris roped a single to left that scored Page for a 12-0 lead.

Red Springs scored 6 times in the second, but Allen started the Lady Knight second with a bunt single, advanced on an error and darted home on a passed ball for a 13-6 lead.

The Lady Red Devils closed the gap to 13-9 in the third, but West walloped a triple to rightfield and scored on a passed ball to begin the West Bladen third. Norris, Briley Stanley and Allen drew walks, and Walters scorched a double to left that scored Norris and Stanley. Allen scored, and Walters scampered home on a wild pitch for an 18-9 lead.

Red Springs added 2 runs in the fourth for the final margin.

West pitched all 4 innings and allowed 12 unearned runs on 4 walks, 2 hits and 7 errors while striking out five.
West batted 3-3 with 2 triples, 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored to lead the Lady Knights. Norris finished 2-2 at the plate with 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Walters batted 2-3 with a double, 3 runs scored and 2 rbi’s.

Cowan doubled, scored twice and had 2 rbi’s. Bailey doubled, scored a run and had an rbi. Allen, Guyton, and Page added one hit each. Allen scored 3 runs, Guyton scored twice and Page and Stanley scored one run each. Duffle had an rbi.

The Lady Knights will travel to East Columbus Friday.
