LAKE WACCAMAW – Junior Logan West struck out 11 batters and picked up the win Thursday night as West Bladen defeated East Columbus 4-2 in Three Rivers Conference baseball action.

West pitched 6.2 innings and scattered 8 hits while allowing 2 runs – one earned – and only one walk. Freshman Kaiden Stanley relieved in the seventh with the tying run at the plate and struck out the only batter he faced to record the save.

The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Junior Dawson Bryan was hit by a pitch, stole second and sprinted home when senior Jeremy Pait ripped a single to left.

West Bladen tacked on 3 more runs in the fifth. Senior Dalton Pait raced all the way to second base on an error, and West knocked him in with a single to left. Bryan reached base on an error, and West scored on junior Nolan Bryant’s fielder’s choice. After Jeremy Pait walked, junior Colby White smashed a single to right that scored Bryan for a 4-0 lead.

Dillon Ward slammed a double to left, and Colton Simmons drove him in with a single. Landon Potter followed with a single and an error on the play scored Simmons to trim the margin to 4-2.

West batted 2-4 with a run batted in and a run scored to lead the Knight hitters. Dalton Pait, Jeremy Pait, and White connected for one hit each. Bryan scored 2 runs, and Dalton Pait scored one. Bryant, Jeremy Pait and White had rbi’s.

Garrett Jacobs batted 2-4 to lead the Gators. Ward doubled and scored. J. T. Junious, the second of three East Columbus pitchers took the loss.

Coach John Ammons’ Knights have now won 3 of their last 4 games to improve to 4-7 in league play and 5-8 overall. West Bladen will travel to South Robeson Tuesday night.
