West Bladen’s Knights travel to East Bladen Thursday night for the regular season finale for both teams.

Coach Travis Pait’s Knights (8-5 in league and 17-6 overall) began the week with hopes of claiming the Four County Conference’s top seed for the Class 2A state play-offs. However Clinton upset first-place Heide Trask Tuesday night to clinch that top seed.

West Bladen has beaten Clinton twice this season, but two losses to Trask and two losses to Wallace-Rose Hill hurt the Knight chances for that seed.

In the earlier East/West game at West Bladen, Knight junior Sayaun Dent pumped in 14 of his 19 points in the second half  as the Knights rallied from an 11-point first half deficit to claim the 62-58 win.

Senior guard Stefan McDonald tallied 14 points in that Knight victory. Junior Denzel Johnson led the East Bladen offense with 15 points, and senior Jermaine Robinson added 12 points.

McDonald leads the West Bladen scoring with a 14.7 average. Dent follows with a 13.2 scoring average. Junior John Bowen contributes 11 points per game, and sophmore Shaquille Johnson adds 9.4 ppg.

Robinson tops the East Bladen scoring with a 10.2 average. Junior Ethan Hines follows with a 9.7 average, and brother Eian Hines scores 9.4 ppg. Johnson chips in with an 8 ppg average.

Coach Ken Cross’ Eagles (3-10 in league and 6-15 overall) could move up to tie Pender for sixth place with a victory. The Eagles held big first half leads over Midway and Wallace-Rose Hill in recent weeks but weren’t able to hang on for the victory.
