West Bladen Team Dedicates to Ayven Lennon

GUNTERSVILLE, Alabama – The West Bladen baseball team showed a fighting spirit Saturday by rallying from an early 3-0 deficit to defeat Ozark, Alabama, 9-4, in the opening round of the Dixie Pre-Majors World Series.

After the game, the Knights dedicated the game to a youngster who also is showing a fighting spirit in a much more important and serious battle. Ayven Lennon, the five-year-old son of Misty and Toby Lennon of Bladenboro, was diagnosed with lymphoma and leukemia in May.

The West Bladen players thought of Ayven during their post-game prayer and dedicated the victory to the youngster. The team is planning to present Ayven with an autographed baseball from the World Series.

A Fun Day Fundraiser is planned Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Bladenboro Historical Building to help the Lennon family with medical expenses. There will be bounce houses provided by Bounce Brothers, train rides donated by David Hales, slushies provided by Lu Mil Vineyard, water games by the Bladenboro Fire Department, face painting and more for $5 per person. Also, a chicken and BBQ plate sale and silent auction will be held from 4-7 p.m.
