CARY – The post-season run through the individual Class 2A Regional and State Tennis tournaments ended Friday morning for West Bladen’s doubles team of seniors Alanna Ludlum and Amber Long.
Ludlum and Long were defeated in the round of sixteen by the Wheatmore team of Eva Lovell and Hailey Mince. The set scores were 6-2 and 6-3.
“We had nine deuce games and just lost a few key points,” said West Bladen Coach Jeff Atkinson. “The girls played very well. I am very proud of both of them.”
Ludlum and Long’s high school tennis career is not finished though as they will compete along with their West Bladen teammates in the Dual Team Tennis play-offs Tuesday at 4 p.m. when the Lady Knights (17-0) host a strong Bartlett Yancey (18-4) team.
