West Bladen High School LogoWest Bladen’s Knights take the next step tonight toward a Four County Conference regular season championship as they travel to Spivey’s Corner to battle the Midway Raiders.

Friday night, Coach Travis Pait’s Knights pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat Clinton 73-61 and move into sole possession of first place in the league with a 9-3 record.

West Bladen’s talented guard trio came up big in the second half as senior Rahu Purdie pumped in 15 of his 22 points after intermission. Junior Stephon McDonald rang up 15 of his 19 points in the second half and had 5 steals in the final quarter.

Senior Malcolm Vaught drained a huge 3-point shot to begin the final period and finished with 13 points and 4 assists. Sophomore forward Sayaun Dent added 7 points and 8 rebounds, and senior center Brandon Council grabbed 6 rebounds.

Midway is led by junior center Paris Smith who averages 15.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Junior guard Dariuss Perez contributes 11.4 points per game, and senior Andre Sankey adds 11.1 points per game. Senior Jamarrious Baggett averages 10.8 points per game.

If West Bladen wins at Midway, the Knights clinch a tie for the regular-season title. If West Bladen wins and Heide Trask wins at Clinton Tuesday night, the Knights clinch the regular season championship outright.

If Midway wins, the Knights will still be tied for first with Midway and Clinton, if Clinton beats Trask.

Gametime will be approximately 8 p.m. at Midway.
