West Bladen’s Knights (13-9) will travel to Dixon (15-10) Wednesday at 6 p.m. for a NCHSAA Class 2A Play-off game.
The Bulldogs tied North Brunswick for first place in the East Central Conference with identical 9-1 records.
The Knights and Bulldogs have played a couple of common opponents. Dixon lost 2-1 to Fairmont and defeated Pender 3-0. West Bladen edged Pender 5-4 then pounded the Patriots 14-2 late in the season. The Knights lost to Fairmont 5-3.
West Bladen enters the play-offs off of a week when they defeated Four County champion Midway and rival East Bladen. Junior Scott Bowen blasted the walk-off double and pitched 6.2 innings in the win over Midway.
Bowen batted 4-4 in the win over East Bladen. Senior Caleb Sholar and junior Trey Storms combined to pitch the victory over the Eagles.
Other West Bladen leaders include senior firstbaseman Jarrett Williams, senior Trent West, senior lead-off batter Weston Pidgeon, senior outfielder T. J. Guyton and freshman shortstop Logan West.
Senior Riley Barber and junior Bryce Brinson, a pair of righthanders, anchor the Bulldog pitching staff.
