Local teacher and coach from West Bladen High School, Gaye Davis announced April is National Donate Life Month (NDLM). Davis has been an advocate for donating life in the community for some time and now students are following her lead.

NDLM was instituted by Donate Life America and its partnering organizations in 2003. Celebrated in April each year, NDLM features an entire month of local, regional and national activities to help encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to celebrate those that have saved lives through the gift of donation according to Donate Life’s website.

On Tuesday, April 4th every student and staff member at the local high school were shown the Heart Prevails video and given an organ donation survey according to Davis.

DREAM Team members, a student organization at West Bladen, have changed their social media profile photos to an organ donation photo for the month of April, Davis added.

To assist in promoting the cause one Dream Team members father built a spin wheel to help make learning about the life saving cause more fun.

“We wrote questions about organ donations. Students would spend the wheel and answer the question,” Davis said.
DREAM Team members have also changed their social media profile photos to an organ donation profile photo for the month of April to bring awareness to the issue.
