Kim Cain resigned Thursday as athletic director and head baseball coach to accept a position at Green Sea, SC High School.

Cain who will be an assistant football and assistant baseball coach at Green Sea was approved by the Horry County School Board Monday night.

“It is an excellent opportunity at Green Sea,” said Coach Cain. “I want to sincerely thank the Bladen County Schools administration and the West Bladen administration for all their help and support.”

Cain, a Bladen County native and East Bladen graduate, continued, “All the West Bladen staff and coaches have been great to work with, and I want to especially thank the students and athletes for their effort. I have made some lifelong friendships during my time at West.”

In his 8 years as West Bladen baseball coach, Cain’s Knights made the play-offs 5 times in 8 years and reached the third round of the play-offs in 2015. The Knights finished second in conference play twice.

It was in Dixie Pre-Majors summer baseball that the Knights enjoyed their most success winning three state championships and traveling to the Dixie Pre-Majors World Series in Alabama in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Coach Cain was also named an assistant football coach for the East-West All-Star Game in Greensboro in 2014.
