Rahu-PurdieWWAY-TV3 is reporting that West Bladen guard Rahu Purdie has verbally committed to play his college basketball next season at Lander University in Greenwood, SC.

Purdie is one of the early recruits for new Lander Coach Steve Roberts who was just named the Bearcats coach last month. Lander was nationally ranked in NCAA Division II a year ago and finished the season with a 19-9 record. The Bearcats are members of the Peach Belt Conference.

Purdie led West Bladen to the Four County Conference Championship and to the Class 2-A Sectional Finals with an 18.5 scoring average. The 5-8 guard dished out 4 assists per game and shot 53 percent from the field and 79 percent from the foul line.

The post season awards for Purdie include NCPreps.com Class 2-A All-State Basketball Team, Four County Conference Player of the Year, North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association District 4 First Team, and All-Cape Fear Region Basketball First Team by the Fayetteville Observer.

According to WWAY, a signing ceremony is expected soon.
