ELIZABETHTOWN – West Bladen senior Savannah Lee finished second in the Three Rivers Conference tennis singles championship Friday, dropping the final match to South Columbus’ Elizabeth Koonce 6-3, 6-2.
Lee and Koonce both qualified for next week’s Class 2A MidEast Regionals that will be played at Jaycee Park in Reidsville on October 19 and 20th.
In opening round play, East Bladen senior Sarah Meares defeated St. Pauls’ Melissa Cantor 6-3, 6-3. South Columbus’ Vanessa Faulk defeated West Bladen senior Haleigh Dunn, and Fairmont’s Ashton Turner defeated East Bladen sophomore Sammi Jiang 6-3, 6-2.
In second round play, Lee, the top seed who received a first-round bye, defeated Meares 6-1, 6-0. Lee then eliminated Faulk in the semi-finals 6-3, 6-1.
