West Bladen dominated play during the Southeastern Athletic 2A Conference boys’ basketball season.

Fittingly, the Knights dominated the league’s postseason awards.

Center Chase Williams was selected the conference Player of the Year and Travis Pait was named Coach of the Year in a vote by league coaches.

West Bladen’s Jackson Pait, Hezekiah Adams and Tylik McCall joined Williams on the all-conference boys’ team.

On the girls’ team, West Bladen was represented by Kali Allen and Alina Chavez. Fairmont’s Taniya Simms was Player of the Year and Marcus Thompson was Coach of the Year.

Williams averaged 20.8 points per game and also was a strong rebounder with 18 double-doubles. He has signed to play basketball at The Citadel next season.

Pait, a junior, averaged 12.7 points per game and was a weapon behind the 3-point line. Adams, a senior, averaged 10.9 points per game and McCall, a junior, averaged 6.7 points per game.

West Bladen finished 27-2, losing to Pittsboro Northwood 57-38 in 2A East Regional championship game. The Knights were 10-0 in Southeastern Conference play, winning by a margin of 36.7 points per game. West Bladen’s closest game came Feb. 11 in a 47-31 win against Fairmont.

For the girls’ all-conference team, Allen, a junior, led the Knights in scoring with 8.1 points per game. Chavez, a senior, averaged 4.9 points per game. West Bladen went 6-16 this season.
