West Columbus 40, Bladenboro 34

EVERGREEN – Unique Kelly and Tristan Tubbs keyed a 29-11 second-half surge that vaulted West Columbus past Bladenboro 40-34 Tuesday night in Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys basketball action.

Kelly racked up 11 of his team-high 15 points in the second half, and Tristan Tubbs tallied all 9 of his points after intermission. Jaylen Bellamy also totaled 9 points for the Warriors.

The Bulldogs raced to a 15-3 first quarter lead. Hezekiah Adams buried a pair of 3-point shots and another basket in the period. Andre Moore nailed a 3-point shot, and Landon Stanley sank 2 free throws and a basket.

Stanley blistered the nets with four baskets in the second quarter to keep the Bladenboro lead at 23-11. Stanley bombed in a 3-ball in the third period, center Chase Williams powered in a basket, and Aaron Lewis made a free throw to keep the Bulldogs even at 29-29.

Adams cashed in 2 free throws in the final quarter, and Stanley fired in another 3-pointer. Stanley led all scorers with 18 points. Adams finished with 10 points.

The Bulldogs, now 3-4 in Division AA play and 5-5 overall, will travel to Whiteville Central Thursday.
