Daylight Savings times is a day when people of various countries and states across the world set their clocks one hour ahead of the standard time. Bladen County North Carolina will be springing forward this Sunday.

Daylight-SavingsThe practice was first introduced in Europe during the First World War. The idea was to take advantage of the longest summer days by gaining an extra hour of daylight and shortening the days in winter. It was not a new concept, back in 1784, American inventor and politician Benjamin Franklin suggested that starting the day earlier in summer would save a considerable number of candles.
Those in favor, practice the same in today’s energy consuming society. The environmental benefits linked to Day Light Savings Time are considerable, though a small amount of electricity is saved per household, those added up nationwide can be significant.
Daylight saving time 2020 in North Carolina will begin at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 8 and ends at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 1. All times are in Eastern Time. This Saturday evening or Sunday morning Bladen County residents should move their clock hands an hour forward if they would like to keep on schedule with the happenings around the area.
