Tuesday evening, Mayor Goldston Womble announced that the Town received word from the NC Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey that White Lake Fire District completed their routine inspection.  The district received a rating of 4 (1 highest to 10 lowest).  Among other things, the inspections look for proper staffing levels, sufficient equipment, proper maintenance of equipment, communications capabilities and availability of a water source.
In his letter, Commissioner Causey stated “I’d like to congratulate Chief Brennan for the department’s performance and for the hard work of all the department members.  The citizens in the Town should rest easy knowing they have a fine group of firefighters protecting them and their property in case of an emergency.”
Mayor Womble stated “Chief Brennan and his volunteers are to be commended for their work in getting the fire insurance classification for the district reduced from a Class 6 to a Class 4 which will result in a decrease in the property insurance calculations for many insured commercial properties as well as residential properties.”  Womble also announced that Chief Brennan was given the honor of Fire Chief of the Year at the December banquet of the Firefighter’s Association.
Chief Brennan praised his volunteer department (38 members) “for their hard work to make White Lake one of the best departments in the state.”
