For generations, families have visited Lasley’s Motel at White Lake, NC for rest, relaxation and healing. The property formerly known as Lasley’s Motel, owned by the McSwain family of Bladen County, will be under new ownership. The popular destination will be a place to heal this generation according to the new owners.

“While most people talk about the past at White Lake, we are looking ahead for the greater things yet to come,” states Pastor Cameron McGill.

Cameron McGill, Pastor of Dublin First Baptist Church in Dublin and The Lake Church at White Lake, said the sale of the property will close Tuesday, July 11, 2017. The property will be a new permanent home of The Lake Church. Plans are also in place for the newly purchased location to also serve as a Christian Retreat Conference Center and a three season retreat / group camp.

Pastor McGill began his ministry at Dublin First Baptist Church in October of 2000. McGill began to envision a lakefront church that could minister to the nearly 200,000 visitors White Lake draws in each year.

In April 2014, the lakefront vision became a reality with lots of prayers and support from his parishioners at Dublin First Baptist Church. Currently, The Lake Church holds year round Sunday church services at The Venue on White Lake.

When the McSwain property came up for sale, McGill along with his church members and supporters saw the possibilities. The new vision for the growing church included a new permanent home for The Lake Church and a place to serve as a site to hold such things as: youth camps, senior getaways, marriage retreats, special needs camps, and many more Christian based functions.

The plans are to renovate some of the structures on the property and move some of the cottages off the property.

“We have 4 cottages that have not been spoken for and need to be moved, anyone interested should call me,” McGill said. McGill’s number is 910-872-1726.

The camp is expected to be ready in March 2018 according to McGill.

“The rooms at the camp will be available for rent to families searching for a place to have a Christian environment, a spiritual get away and a relaxing time at White Lake,” states McGill.

“The church building will go up as soon as God allows,” McGill said.

There will be an open house at the property July 23rd from 2-4 pm. The public is welcome.
