The town of White Lake recently received great news regarding their application for a NC Parks and Recreation Trust Fund grant. The town was awarded $305,285 to construct a multi-use trail.
The grant funds will be utilized to help construct portion of the loop along NC 53 and US Highway 701 where the speed limit is 55 mph. Currently, those who are walking, biking or jogging for exercise are in close proximity to motor vehicles traveling at high rates of speed. The multi-use path will help to separate them by providing a safer path.
The goal is to eventually complete a loop around the lake, making it safer for those who love to walk, bike and jog around the lake. Currently there is a sidewalk located along a portion of NC 53 and White Lake Drive.
