The Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce announced Wednesday that the remaining summer and fall 2020 events have been canceled. It includes the White Lake Water Festival and the Sunset Jams Concert Series.

“Due to concern for the health and safety of our residents and visitors, we felt it was best to cancel the remaining planned events,” Chamber Executive Director Terri Dennison said. “The current situation of rising COVID cases is just one of our concerns, but it is a big one. We were not sure if we could adequately ensure safe social distancing.”

According to Dennison, the White Lake Water Festival Committee met Tuesday evening to discuss the feasibility of holding the postponed Water Festival. The committe’s consensus for canceling the event was reported to the Chamber Board.

The Chamber Board also agreed that continuing to plan the concert series during this time of uncertainty was not practical. Sunset Jams were scheduled for July 31 in White Lake and on September 11 and October 9 in Elizabethtown.

Dennison said that all sponsors, bands, and vendors will be contacted in the next few days.

The Chamber is hoping that late fall events like the Pork and Beats Festival and the Christmas Parade will be able to be held, Dennison said.

The White Lake Water Festival will be scheduled for May 21-22, 2021. Dates for the 2021 concert series will be announced later.
