BLADENBORO –Williams Township pushed across two runs in the third inning to defeat Bladenboro 3-1 Thursday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.

Bladenboro had grabbed a 1-0 first inning lead when Andre Moore walked, stole second and third base and scored on Aaron Wren’s fielder’s choice.

The Aggies rallied in the third. Caden Mills and Cameron Ridgeway cracked singles, and John Gore drove in Mills with a single. Cole Weatherford slammed a double that plated Ridgeway with the go-ahead run.

The score remained 2-1 until Ridgeway hammered a triple to left and scored on Gore’s ground-out in the seventh inning.

Ridgeway pitched a 5-hitter and struck out 12 batters for the Aggies, while Bladenboro’s Michael Young pitched a 6-hitter and struck out 12 batters.

Wren, Young, Stephen Matheson, Will Durden and Wadeyn Norris connected for one hit each for Bladenboro. Wren drove in a run, and Moore scored the run.

Ridgeway batted 2-3 with the triple and scored twice for the Aggies. Weatherford was also 2-3 with a double and a run batted in.

Bladenboro will travel to Tar Heel Monday.
