BLADENBORO – Williams Township scored 3 runs in the eighth inning Thursday for a 7-4 Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball victory over Bladenboro.

The Lady Aggies bunched 3 hits and an error to score three unearned runs in the top of the eighth to snap a 4-4 tie and claim the victory.

Williams Township jumped in front with 3 two-out runs in the first inning on 2 hits, 2 walks and an error.

The Lady Bulldogs evened the score in the third inning. MaKayla Wright walked, and Rylee Chadwick and Lainey Autry reached base on fielder’s choices. McKenzie Singletary knocked in Chadwick with a single, and Kolee Wilkins walked. Autry and Singletary scored on errors to tie the game 3-3.

Wright belted a one-out single in the fourth inning and stole second base. Chadwick ripped a double to drive in Wright for a 4-3 Bladenboro lead.

Williams used a walk and a triple to tie the game again 4-4 in the fifth inning.

Singletary batted 3-4 with a run batted in and a run scored to lead the Lady Bulldog hitters. Chadwick contributed the run-scoring double and scored a run. Wright singled and scored a run. Autry scored a run.

Chadwick pitched a complete-game 8-hitter and allowed 7 runs – one earned – while striking out nine and walking five.

Bladenboro is now 5-4 in the Waccamaw AA Division and 5-5 overall. The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Tar Heel Monday.
