The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit has completed an investigation into the mailing of controlled substances to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

On December 24, 2018, the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center intercepted personal mail addressed to an inmate containing suspected controlled substances and the Narcotics Unit was requested to assist.

After a joint investigation by the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, and the United States Postal Inspectors Office it was determined the below listed individual mailed multiple Suboxone Sublingual Films to an inmate being held at the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center for controlled substance related offenses.

At the conclusion of this investigation, on January 24, 2019, the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office served arrest warrants on the defendant.  The defendant in this investigation was arrested and processed at the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

Arrested was Heather LeVonne Brown, 19, of 1015 Gordon Road, Wilmington, N.C. She is charged with the following:

*1 count of Providing Drugs to an Inmate

*1 count of Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Schedule III Controlled Substances

*1 count of Manufacturing Schedule III Controlled Substances

Her bond was set at $20,000.
