Teresa Denise Lauderback, 33, was recently sentenced to a 24 months probation on a misdemeanor child abuse charge. The sentence was suspended, according to court records.

She was charged following the July 15, 2015, drowning of her 4 year-old son at White Lake. White Lake Police Officers responded to a report of a possible drowning at 2038 White Lake Drive. When officers arrived on the scene they found an unresponsive male child.

Samaritans administered CPR and members of the White Lake Fire Department and NC State Parks and Recreation personnel took over efforts to resuscitate child. He was transported to Cape Fear Valley-Bladen Healthcare where he was pronounced dead.

Lauderback was originally charged with one felony count of child abuse (neglect) abuse.

Lauderback is also scheduled to appear in Bladen County District Court on October 6, 2017 on charges of failure to secure a passenger under the age of 16, failure to wear a seatbelt-driver, and driving while license revoked not impaired. She is also scheduled to appear in Bladen County District Court on November 3, 2017, on charges of speeding and driving while license revoked not impaired.

Lauderback is also scheduled to appear in Robeson County District Court on October 25, 2017, on charges of speeding in a school zone and driving while license revoked not impaired. She is scheduled to appear in Robeson County District Court on November 8, 2017, on a another charge of driving while license revoked not impaired.
