ELIZABETHTOWN – Pregnancy can be a stressful time, so Women’s Health Specialists wants to help.

The Bladen Healthcare obstetrics and gynecology practice now offers expectant patients several new perks to help ease the transition into new motherhood. The perks include a steak dinner for two, a diaper bag full of newborn necessities, and a new car seat for the newest addition to the family.

The diaper bag and complimentary items will be provided at the mother-to-be’s 36th-week obstetrics visit. The dinner voucher will be presented at the hospital after delivery. And the car seat will be given when the mother and newborn child are discharged from the hospital.

Ashley Dowless, Bladen Healthcare Public Relations Director, said Women’s Health Specialists launched the new program because it’s serious about caring for families throughout the childbirth process.

“We want to give new mothers everything they need during this important time in their life,” Dowless said. “We’ll be right there, when you need us.”

Located at 300 McKay St., the Elizabethtown OB/GYN practice offers care for everything from gynecology to high-risk obstetrics. The care providers include Allan Boruszak, M.D., Shakonda Strayhorn, M.D., and Denise Davies, CNM, who deliver more than 200 babies a year.

Tiffany Bullock of Elizabethtown loved the staff so much that she was determined to deliver at Bladen County Hospital. She got her wish on Dec. 29, delivering newborn son, Azeem, after a short labor.

“The doctors at Women’s Health Specialists know what they’re doing,” said the new mother. “The nurses are never too busy, and they made me and my family feel real comfortable. Everyone was always so nice!”
