When we enjoy doing something, it is most likely that we do it again. That’s how we discover hobbies and pastimes. However, when we start feeling passionate about one particular activity, we evolve as amateurs.
The term amateur comes from the Latin amator. The word in Latin refers to the feeling of love. Centuries back, the amator was the one who projected and dedicated to love. The “amator” term was eventually taken and adapted to french to become “amateur.” The modern adaptation of this term refers to the one who cultivates and practices any activity for enjoyment. Not far from its original meaning, an amateur performs an activity with passion and love.
Any person can become an amateur of whatever his likes are. Throughout history, amateurs have been outstanding in art, sports, and science areas. For an amateur, there is no specific task. Instead, the main requirement to be an amateur is to do things with devotion and love.
The amateur exercises an activity unprofessional in nature. A person who has investigated, studied, completed needed requirements can become an amateur; and a professional as well. In contrast with amateurs, professionals look forward to practicing their knowledge, receiving a reward back for their work.
Generally, because of the passion for their work, amateurs don’t receive a remuneration. For many people, the amateur’s actual remuneration is leisure, fun, and personal growth. On the other side, some amateurs find the opportunity to study, practice, and become professionals in their hobbies. Therefore, any amateur has the chance to turn their hobby into a profession; however, they will be amateurs no more.
Currently, there are multiple areas in which amateurs stand their skills out. The amateur category has been enriched, especially in the sports area. Amateurs athletes perform their hobbies in sports for health and body wellness purposes. Some of them join sports clubs in the same category as professionals.

Cuando disfrutamos haciendo algo, lo más probable es que lo volvamos a hacer. Así es como descubrimos hobbies y pasatiempos. Sin embargo, cuando nos empieza a apasionar una actividad en particular, evolucionamos como amateur.
El término amateur proviene del latín amator. La palabra en latín se refiere al sentimiento de amor. Siglos atrás, el amator era quien proyectaba y se dedicaba a amar. Tiempo después, el concepto “amator” fue adoptado y adaptado al francés para convertirse en “amateur”. La adaptación moderna de este término se refiere a quien cultiva y practica cualquier actividad para el disfrute. No lejos de su significado original, un aficionado realiza una actividad con pasión y amor.
Cualquier persona puede convertirse en un aficionado de sus gustos. A lo largo de la historia, los aficionados se han destacado en las áreas de arte, deportes y ciencias. Para un aficionado, no hay una tarea específica. En cambio, el principal requisito para ser amateur es hacer las cosas con devoción y amor.
El amateur ejerce una actividad de carácter no profesional. Una persona que ha investigado, estudiado y completado los requisitos necesarios puede convertirse en un amateur; y de igual manera un profesional. A diferencia de los amateur, los profesionales esperan poner en practica sus conocimientos y recibir una recompensa por su trabajo.
Generalmente, debido a la pasión por su trabajo, los aficionados no reciben una remuneración. Para muchas personas, la remuneración real del aficionado es el ocio, la diversión y el crecimiento personal. Por otro lado, algunos amateur encuentran la oportunidad de estudiar, practicar y convertirse en profesionales en sus pasatiempos. Por tanto, cualquier aficionado tiene la posibilidad de convertir su afición en una profesión; sin embargo, dejarán de ser amateur.
Actualmente, existen múltiples áreas en las que los aficionados destacan sus habilidades. La categoría amateur se ha enriquecido, especialmente en el área deportiva. Los deportistas amateur desarrollan sus aficiones en el deporte por motivos de salud y bienestar corporal. Algunos de ellos ingresan en clubes deportivos de la misma categoría que los profesionales.
