The human being is social by nature. Hence he is prone to forming different types of social ties. Beyond associating with his relatives (mother, father, brother…), the human being tends to establish friendships, love relationships, and even camaraderie.
Camaraderie is the friendly relationship between people. This bond is forged as a result of a series of values and virtues, such as respect, affection, and understanding.
The term camaraderie originates from the Latin word camara. Etymologically speaking, the root of this word forms up the actual term. The prefix camara, translated into English as chamber, stands for a room or vault. Back in the day, several members of the same group shared rooms or “chambers.” Hence, the term “camaraderie” refers to the coexistence and good relationship between the people who live in the same room.
Historians presume that this term is used to a greater extent in the military world and that the most logical thing is that there is where it originated. It is common for rooms to be shared between eight or ten people in the military. Unquestionably, for a group of people to live together, it is necessary to establish a good relationship with each other. In this way, camaraderie, something more than friendship, was born. This value is closely linked to fellowship and fraternity, which is the reason why people who share this virtue develop a close bond like no other. Some believe that camaraderie was formerly the principal value among members of the military. Today, the term camaraderie is employed with the same denotation. Following are some examples of the use of the word:
- Living in camaraderie increases happiness levels and helps reduce stress.
- The guys on my team have a camaraderie like no other.
- Different organizations foster camaraderie among their employees.
- Camaraderie was one of the essential virtues I learned when I joined the Navy.
- If there is no camaraderie between a team, then there is no team
The word camaraderie consists of five syllables (ca-ma-ra-de-rie), and its proper pronunciation is kaa·mr·aa·dr·ee. Some similar terms for the word “camaraderie” are companionship, fraternity, solidarity, fellowship, friendship, and complicity.

El ser humano es social por naturaleza. Por lo tanto, es propenso a formar diferentes tipos de lazos sociales. Más allá de asociarse con sus familiares (madre, padre, hermano…), el ser humano tiende a entablar amistades, relaciones amorosas, e incluso camaradería.
La camaradería es la relación amistosa entre las personas. Este vínculo se forja como resultado de una serie de valores y virtudes, como el respeto, el cariño y la comprensión.
El término camaradería tiene su origen en la palabra latina camara. Etimológicamente hablando, la raíz de esta palabra forma el término actual, cámara. El prefijo cámara hace alusion a una habitación o bóveda. En la época, varios miembros del mismo grupo compartían habitaciones o “cámaras”. De ahí que el término “camaradería” se refiera a la convivencia y buena relación entre las personas que conviven en una misma habitación.
Los historiadores suponen que este término se utiliza en mayor medida en el mundo militar y que lo más lógico es que ahí esté su procedencia original. Es común que las habitaciones se compartan entre ocho o diez personas en el ejército. Indiscutiblemente, para que un grupo de personas conviva, es necesario establecer una buena relación entre ellos. Así nació la camaradería, algo más que amistad. Este valor está íntimamente ligado al compañerismo y la fraternidad, razón por la cual las personas que comparten esta virtud desarrollan un vínculo estrecho como ningún otro. Algunos creen que la camaradería era anteriormente el principal valor entre los miembros de las fuerzas armadas. Hoy, el término camaradería se emplea con la misma denotación. Los siguientes son algunos ejemplos del uso de la palabra:
- Vivir en camaradería aumenta los niveles de felicidad y ayuda a reducir el estrés.
- Los muchachos de mi equipo tienen una camaradería como ninguna otra.
- Diferentes organizaciones fomentan el compañerismo entre sus empleados.
- El compañerismo fue una de las virtudes esenciales que aprendí cuando me uní a la Armada.
- Si no hay camaradería entre un equipo, entonces no hay equipo.
