Spread the love

“That is inconceivable!” We say that something is inconceivable when we are so surprised by an event or action that we cannot understand it.

The term inconceivable comes from the Latin verb concepiere. The word concepiere refers to receiving entirely or conceiving. As a result, the syllable in unbelievable refers to what cannot be conceived. Some synonyms for inconceivable are:

  • Incomprehensible
  • Inadmissible
  • Unimaginable
  • Amazing
  • Unthinkable

We generally understand and react to what is happening around us. The way we interpret situations is related to how that situation makes us feel. In most cases, the inconceivable is a surprise in bad taste. Some people interpret situations as unthinkable when they generate a negative feeling in the person. On the other hand, some people consider a situation inconceivable by failing to analyze or understand it thoroughly.

Throughout history, human beings have been characterized by being subjective in their thinking and actions. In today’s society, there are thousands of ways to express those ideas and thoughts. Similarly, there are likes and dislikes between opinions. When we believe that something is inconceivable, it is because we think that there is no way that something is subject to reality, and less that it makes any sense. Sometimes what seems inconceivable to one person may not be to another.

Some examples of the use of the word inconceivable are:

  • “It’s inconceivable that we have to wait so long to make a reservation.”
  • “My brother’s behavior is inconceivable.”
  • “The project is an inconceivable idea.”
