Nowadays, our behavior is governed by a series of rules manners of coexistence. Regardless, human behavior has not always been determined. Back in history, humankind’s methods were primeval.
Primeval refers to something or someone related to the earliest ages of the world. That is, situating millions of years ago, at almost our “first era” of existence. Etymologically speaking, the word primeval originates from the Latin roots primus and aevum. The prefix primus stands for first, while the suffix aevum directs to age or era. Together, these expressions serve to indicate “of or relating to the earliest ages.”
Moreover, “primeval” is considered an adjective, which means it expresses the qualities of a person, place, or thing. The word consists of three syllables ( pri-me-val), and its accurate pronunciation is prai·mee·vl. The following are some examples of the use of the term primeval:
- Archeologists are adapted to investigate primeval pieces of study.
- Primeval dinosaur bones were found under this house many years ago.
- Your way of behaving is quite primeval.
- I wish I could go back in time; my first choice would be the primeval age.
- The teacher assigned her students to write a report about primeval objects and their use.
Considering that, as a society, we have organized time itself, the primeval age may be considered the very first period of existence and development of the human being. The main characteristics of primeval behavior lie in the way humans used to survive. For example, back in the date, food had to be hunted and gathered. Furthermore, there was no private property or social class systems. The primeval era is also called prehistory, and it composes an essential part of understanding the human being’s demeanor. The primeval period’s end occurs at the first existence of writing.

Hoy en día, nuestro comportamiento se rige por una serie de normas y modos de convivencia. Independientemente, el comportamiento humano no siempre ha sido determinado. En la historia, los métodos de la humanidad eran primitivos.
Primitivo se refiere a algo o alguien relacionado con las edades más tempranas del mundo. Es decir, situando millones de años antes, casi nuestra “primera era” de existencia. Etimológicamente hablando, la palabra primigenio proviene de las raíces latinas primus y aevum. El prefijo primus significa primero, mientras que el sufijo aevum indica edad o era. Juntas, estas expresiones sirven para indicar “perteneciente o relativo a las edades más antiguas.”
Además, “primitivo” se considera un adjetivo, lo que significa que se usa para expresar las cualidades de una persona, lugar o cosa. La palabra consta de cuatro sílabas (pri-mi-ti-vo). Los siguientes son algunos ejemplos del uso del término primitivo:
- Los arqueólogos están adaptados para investigar piezas de estudio primitivo.
- Huesos de dinosaurios primitivos se encontraron debajo de esta casa hace muchos años.

Teniendo en cuenta que, como sociedad, hemos organizado el tiempo mismo, la edad primigenia puede considerarse como el primer período de existencia y desarrollo del ser humano. Las principales características del comportamiento primitivo radican en la forma en que los humanos solían sobrevivir. Por ejemplo, en la época, la comida tenía que ser cazada y recolectada. Además, no había propiedad privada ni sistemas de clases sociales. La era primigenia también se denomina prehistoria y constituye una parte esencial para comprender el comportamiento del ser humano. El final del período primigenio se sitúa hasta la primera existencia de la escritura.
